The Business of #ReclaimingBeauty

December 23, 2014 by Jessica Bolyard Leave a Comment

If you’ve known me long, you know that I simply adore the way God takes the messiest parts of our lives – those parts that we want to keep hidden in dark obscurity – and redeems them into unimaginable beauty. ViBella Jewelry believes in the way God does this, and is working in some of the darkest places in the world to reclaim beauty and restore lives. I’m excited to be a part of the #ReclaimingBeauty series, in which writers around the web are sharing their stories of brokenness redeemed and helping to promote the mission and ministry of ViBella Jewelry. I’m guest posting on my sweet friend Amy’s blog – Beloved in Blue Jeans – today. Would you come visit, and help to spread the word about the incredible work God is doing in Haiti, Mexico, and right here in the United States through ViBella Jewelry?

Here’s a snippet of my post:

I wanted Christmas to wait until I was ready.

But sometime yesterday it occurred to me that Christmas is not a story of perfect beauty and perfect timing. Rather, Christmas is a story of beauty in the middle of a mess….of timing that is still perfect even when it seems all wrong.

Because Christmas isn’t about picture-perfect decorations, or even about creating wonder in a child’s eyes. Christmas is about majesty birthed in a manger….about faith materialized in filth. Christmas is about a baby boy in a barn. Stars and shepherds…starlit journeys.

To read more, come on over to Amy’s blog – and poke around some while you’re there. You’ll be blessed by what you find there.

A Letter to 2020

Dear 2020,  I think I’m over you. I don’t think I’m telling you anything you don’t know; I also don’t think you can pretend that our relationship has been a healthy one. I’m just ready to move on from all that you’ve put me through. It’s time. I can’t take it anymore, and I have to believe that something better is coming, and soon. I have to move on and
