Prayer Focus: Strength for Difficult Situations
Central Scripture: “Look to the Lord and His strength. Seek His face always.” (1 Chronicles 16:11)
Prayer:
Father, You are so good. In every situation we face, no matter how uncertain or scary or unpredictable, we know that you are always the same…always certain…always good. Thank You for being our anchor in the waves…our lighthouse in the storm…our fortress in every onslaught.
Lord God, I pray today that no matter what situations my family may face today, tomorrow, or further down the road, that they would find their strength in You. It’s so easy to default to relying on our own efforts and abilities, but Lord, our limitations set in so quickly and we realize again that we just don’t have what it takes. I pray that You would remind my husband and children that they don’t have what it takes, but that in You they can do all things. Help them to reach the end of themselves so that they learn the full extent of who You are.
Father, You promise us that in our weakness, You are made strong. Lord, I certainly don’t pray for hard things to cross the path of life for my family, but I do pray that in whatever we encounter, we wouldn’t fight our weaknesses. I pray that we would accept our weaknesses and limitations because then You can work best and the world can see You more clearly.
Lord, I pray that You would strengthen my husband for the daily battles of being a man in this world. I will never fully comprehend the burden he bears, but I find comfort knowing that You do understand. You have walked through life as a man, and You know the struggles he faces. God, give him strength. Help him to lean on You instead of himself. Let him ask You for help. Help him to be a model of biblical manhood, not trying to be strong himself but embracing his weaknesses and letting them show…all so that You can be glorified.
Father God, I ask You to please give my children strength to thrive in every situation they encounter. Let their strength come from You, and help them to realize that weakness is not a bad thing. Show them from an early age what might be their particular struggles that You want to use to make them more like You, and help them to lean into You in those areas especially.
Please let my family stand strong, God. There are strong winds of culture that threaten to uproot them, but I pray that their roots would be so deeply buried in You that nothing can sway them. Help them to seek Your face always, knowing that You are an ever-present help in times of trouble. Hold on to my family, God. Let our strength come from You.
Amen.
