Praying For Our Families || Day 26

October 26, 2015 by Jessica Bolyard 1 Comment

Prayer Focus: Godly Community

Central Scripture: “He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20)

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for creating us the way that You did. We are not made to do life alone, but to walk alongside other people in close relationships. Thank You for the people You bring into our lives.

God, I pray that You would bring a steady stream of godly influences into the lives of my husband and children. Help them to be surrounded by people who also have their hearts and eyes set on You, that they will grow closer to You through those relationships of accountability. Let my family seek out other people to do life with. Please guard us against any tendencies of isolation or solitude, but remind us constantly that we are made for community.

Lord God, I pray that You would cultivate relationships with godly men in my husband’s life. No one is strong enough to withstand cultural influences on their own, so I pray that the influences around my husband would be those that lead him to You. I pray that he and the friends You give him would be vulnerable with each other, allowing for honest accountability that makes them more like Christ.

Father, please help my children to be surrounded by godly community. Bring friends and mentors into their lives that help them to reach the full potential that You have placed inside them. Help them to gravitate toward those friends who will help them to make wise decisions, rather than to those who appeal in the ways of the world.

Lord, You tell us that we have the ability to sharpen one another as iron sharpens iron. I pray that would be the experience of my family. Let us always seek out community and fellowship, that we will be living out Your true design for our lives.

Amen.

A Letter to 2020

Dear 2020,  I think I’m over you. I don’t think I’m telling you anything you don’t know; I also don’t think you can pretend that our relationship has been a healthy one. I’m just ready to move on from all that you’ve put me through. It’s time. I can’t take it anymore, and I have to believe that something better is coming, and soon. I have to move on and
